The Law Office of James R. Snell, Jr., LLC, Jr., LLC, has recently acquired a DataMaster breath testing machine. This is the machine used by law enforcement agencies throughout South Carolina to measure alcohol in a DUI suspect's mouth. For example, these machines are kept at the Lexington County Detention Center, and after a DUI arrest, defendants are taken to a small room to be given an opportunity to blow into the machine via a tube inserted through the glass partition. Many individuals decline to provide a sample due to concerns about the reliability of the readings.
The DataMaster has certain parameters within which it operates, and additionally the operator has to take precise steps to make sure that a valid reading it produced. When a DUI defendant does provide a sample that result is typically the most important evidence to be used against them later in Court.
